Indian Viorological Society
Indian Virological Society (IVS) was established in December 1984 at Haryana Agriculture University, Hisar. The objective of the Society is to promote research and development in the ﬁeld of virology. IVS is a unique scientiﬁc body that provides platform for those associated with the characterization and management of viruses affecting Animal, Human, Fish, Insect, Plant and any other living being. IVS organizes National and International Conference, Training, Seminar, symposia, Industry-meet, etc. The society recognizes outstanding contribution of individual in the ﬁeld of virology and confers “Prof. K.S. Bhargava Oration Award” and “Fellow of IVS”. IVS is the member of International Union of Microbiological Society (IUMS). In last 26 years of existence, IVS has organizes 4 international and 22 national conferences.
IVS published an international reputed journal “VirusDisease” (formerly known as Indian Journal of Virology) with collaboration with Springer, the world renowned scientific publisher. It has really got worldwide acceptance and becoming popular all over the world. The journal is Broad base in the sense that it is covering both basic and applied research on viral disease problems of Developing countries. It has already been indexed in SCOPUS, EMBASE, Google Scholar, CSA, CAB International, CAB Abstracts, Global Health, IBIDS, Indian Science Abstracts, OCLC, Summon by Serial Solutions.
Society also published the Newsletter “Virus Research News” biannually. The Newsletter contains interesting sections like, Research News, virology news, recently held conference, Forthcoming Publications, Awards etc. which provide a precise knowledge to readers about the IVS activities. At present we have 300 life members and more than 100 annual members.
Aim and Objectives
I. To promote awareness and research programmes in advancement of Virology
II. To promote the exchange of scientific information, discussion and interdisciplinary collaborations amongst researchers/academicians active in the field of virology nationally and internationally.
III. To secure and manage funds and endowments for the promotion of virology research in India and abroad.
IV. To promote and publish journal, newsletter, books, technical bulletins etc. for the advancement of virology.
V. Dissemination of knowledge for policy makers and experts in the area.
VI. To organize national and international conferences, workshops, trainings, lectures on different aspects of virology in India and abroad.
v. Inviting international scientists of eminence from aboard for the promotion of virology.Read More
